Where to buy the domain — honest comparison

Prices checked live on each provider's site, 20–21 July 2026, converted to pounds where they bill in dollars or euros. The "3-year total" column is the one that matters — first-year offers are bait, renewals are the real price.

Our suggestion

Register at Cloudflare, in your own account. It's the cheapest over any timespan longer than a year, the price is the wholesale cost so it can't creep, and there are no upsells to dodge. The walkthrough below takes about 15 minutes — have a go, and if anything trips you up we'll finish it together.

Registering your domain — the walkthrough

Yours to do, at your own pace, with your own card — so the domain belongs to you from the very first minute. Nothing here can break anything.

Create your Cloudflare account. Go to dash.cloudflare.com/sign-up and sign up with your email and a strong password. Save the password somewhere safe — this account will own your domain.
Verify your email. Cloudflare sends a confirmation link — click it before doing anything else.
Switch on two-step login. Click your profile (top right) → My Profile → Authentication → set up 2FA with your phone. Two minutes now, and nobody can ever pinch the account.
Buy the domains. In the left-hand menu: Domain Registration → Register Domains. Search goodknightyoga.co.uk and add it, then search goodknightyoga.com and add that too. Your name and home address go on the registration (UK domains keep individuals' details private automatically). The card is charged in dollars — about £11.50 for the year, both domains. Leave auto-renew ON.
Invite me in. Manage Account → Members → Invite → Hello@tailored-tools.com, and choose the role Administrator — not Super Administrator, that one stays yours alone. This lets me connect your website and email without owning a thing of yours.
Tell me it's done. Same day, I'll plug in the website and switch on hello@goodknightyoga.co.uk, forwarding to your Outlook — free.

Mailing-list tool when the list grows	£0 → ~£9 / month	Free tiers (e.g. MailerLite) cover your first ~1,000 subscribers. You'd only pay once the list is big — a lovely problem to have.
Taking card payments	1.5% + 20p per payment	No monthly fee. Stripe takes a small cut per transaction — on a £12 class, about 38p. Only relevant if you want online payment.
ICO data-protection fee	Already done ✓	You're already ICO registered — so the website adds no new cost or paperwork here. Just keep the renewal going as you do now.

Beyond the website — the 360° view

Things a yoga business tends to need sooner or later. None of these are needed on day one, and several you'll already have — but you should never be surprised by one of them.

1:1 bookings	Free	Cal.com's free plan gives you a "book a session" calendar that syncs with your diary — students pick a slot, you approve.
Class bookings — self-serve when admin gets annoying	£0 → £14.40 / month	Bookwhen (British, well-loved by yoga teachers): free plan covers 50 bookings/month for free events; the £14.40 inc-VAT plan adds card payments for 300 bookings/month. Passes, memberships and waiting lists are on the £22.80 tier. No cut of your payments, cancel anytime. We'd embed it straight into the site.
Online classes — Google Meet your choice ✓	Free	You've gone with Google Meet — free, and its 60-minute group calls cover Burnout Buster exactly. (Free Zoom would have cut you off at 40 minutes; Zoom Pro at ~£14/month remains the fallback if you ever outgrow Meet.)
Music licence ask your venue first	£0 or ~£100+ / year	Playing recorded music in classes legally needs TheMusicLicence (PPL PRS). Most halls and studios already hold one that covers you on their premises — confirm with the venue before paying for anything yourself.
Insurance	Already sorted ✓	You have insurance — we'll reference it on the website's trust section. No new cost.
First aid & DBS refresh	~£30–90 one-off	Yours are out of date — worth refreshing, especially for corporate and school work. Emergency first aid courses run ~£25–60; a basic DBS check is £21.50 (enhanced, if needed for children's work, is arranged through an umbrella body for a small admin fee).
Google Business Profile	Free	The map listing that makes you show up for "yoga near me". Free, hugely valuable locally, and we'll set it up with you — reviews from students live here too.
Health questionnaire & waivers	Free	A simple new-student form (health conditions, injuries, consent) — we'll build it into the site. This is part of why the ICO fee above likely applies.
Gift vouchers	Free	Stripe payment links make "gift a session" possible with no monthly cost — lovely for Christmas and Mother's Day, very fitting for a caregiver audience.

The honest summary

Bare minimum: about £4 a year. One .co.uk domain at cost price — everything else the site needs is free.

Sensible setup: roughly £12 a year — both domains, still nothing monthly.

ICO and insurance? Already yours — no new cost. The website adds nothing to what you pay today except the domain.

Booking, mailing list and analytics all start on free plans. Card payments only ever cost a slice of what you're actually paid.

Worst case with class bookings + Zoom + everything on: ~£30/month — and only once a full timetable justifies it

Everything is in your name

Your domain, email, booking and any payment accounts get set up under you — not Tailored Tools. You own the lot outright. If we ever part ways, you lose nothing and nothing needs migrating away from us.

The no-surprises fine print

Watch for	What it means
First-year offers	£1 and 1p deals are real, but the renewal price is the true yearly cost — that's why the table shows 3-year totals.
Auto-renew	We'll leave it ON so the domain can never accidentally expire, and put the renewal date in your calendar anyway.
Checkout upsells	Registrars push "privacy", "SSL" and "email protection" add-ons at checkout. You need none of them — privacy is automatic on UK personal registrations, and SSL comes free with hosting.
VAT & currency	UK providers may quote ex-VAT (IONOS does). US providers bill in dollars — your card may add a few pence of FX fee.
You're never locked in	Domains can be transferred between providers at any time (UK domains move with a simple tag change). Nothing we build ties you to one company.
Build & ongoing care	The website build itself is quoted separately by Tailored Tools — one figure, agreed before we start, no meter running. Small fixes after launch are included; anything bigger, we'll quote before touching.
